Our Diagnostic Assessment and Treatment Planning Session

Our services start with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, which include interviews with patients and loved ones, and most often involve administering specific neuropsychological testing.

Once this work up is complete, the patient and loved ones usually return for an explanation of our findings and for the development of a treatment plan. This feedback session is one of the most important services we deliver.

In some cases, patients may wish to discuss treatment solely with their referring doctor and have CBBS serve strictly as specialized consultants.  In those cases we will send your test results and our opinions to your primary care physician or referring doctor and remain available for consultation.

  • Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) — We will determine whether you are at high risk for developing dementia or simply have minor memory impairments that might progress over time.  Part of an ongoing work up might involve neuro-radiology examination with fMRI or PET scan.
  • Treatment plan for MCI – biological therapies including medication, herbal, vitamin and alternative treatments.  We also tailor psychological therapies and specialized therapies to address your particular condition.
  • Dementia — We make every effort to identify the sub-type of dementia (i.e. Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia) since treatment of each one is somewhat different and the course of the disorder is different.  We then recommend biological and psychological therapies.  We can also help with referrals to agencies and professionals who can contribute to special needs.
